Wicker Statement on Lifting of Pre-Departure COVID Testing Requirement

June 10, 2022

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., ranking member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, today responded to news that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would be lifting the pre-departure COVID-19 testing requirement for travelers entering the U.S.

“I am relieved that the Biden administration has finally seen reason and removed the requirement for pre-departure COVID testing for inbound international travelers. Ending this burdensome requirement is long overdue and something I have been urging for months,” Wicker said.

Wicker has repeatedly urged the Administration to end federal COVID travel restrictions. In March, he led a letter to President Biden with 31 senators calling for an end to unnecessary air travel restrictions.
