SCom: InnovationWASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries, and Coast Guard will hold a hearing on the need for continued innovation in weather forecasting and prediction.  The hearing comes following a summer of extreme weather events across the United States and after a massive storm of “epic proportion” that recently hit the coastal communities in Alaska.

The hearing will assess whether current weather and climate data and programs at NOAA are adequately meeting the growing needs of decision-makers, the private sector, and the public as well as address how these programs must continue to innovate to meet demands.

Please note the hearing will also be webcast live via the Senate Commerce Committee website.  Refresh the Commerce Committee homepage 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to view the webcast.

Individuals with disabilities who require an auxiliary aid or service, including closed captioning service for webcast hearings, should contact Collenne Wider at 202-224-5511 at least three business days in advance of the hearing date.
