Rockefeller Praises President Obama's State of the Union Priorities

Announces Commerce Committee Hearing on Rejuvenating America’s Manufacturing

January 25, 2011

Chairman RockefellerWASHINGTON, D.C.— Chairman John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV tonight praised the priorities outlined in President Obama’s State of the Union address. The Senator also announced the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on boosting American manufacturing in the coming weeks as part of a larger effort to emphasize innovation and an economic revival.

“The President said we will need to out-innovate, out-build, out-compete and out-educate other countries, and I couldn’t agree more,” Chairman Rockefeller said. “I’m glad the President focused on the need to invest in our infrastructure and encourage exports to create jobs. These investments are critical to American competitiveness; and are issues on which my Committee is hard at work. As Chairman, I intend to take a hard look at ways to create more manufacturing jobs and bring financial security to American families. The time is now for American-made, and American-proud.”
