Sen. Hutchison Receives Key Assurances from Chrysler President to Require Equitable Treatment for Auto Dealers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Late Thursday evening, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Texas senior Senator, received a letter in response from Chrysler President James Press and subsequently spoke with members of Chrysler leadership. In both the letter and subsequent conversations Senator Hutchison, working with Senator Stabenow, received key assurances from Chrysler regarding their willingness to work with the affected dealers in Texas and across the country.

Earlier this afternoon, Senator Hutchison, the Ranking Republican on the Commerce Committee, announced that Commerce Committee Chairman Rockefeller and Senator Hutchison will hold a hearing of the committee on June 2 at 2:30 pm in order to explore the impact of the auto manufacturer’s restructuring on consumers and the dealers and their employees.
