WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will convene a full committee hearing titled “We Interrupt This Program: Media Ownership in the Digital Age” on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 10:00 am EST. This hearing will examine the Federal Communications Commission’s current broadcast media ownership rules—particularly one rule limiting a single broadcaster from reaching beyond 39 percent of U.S. television households nationwide—in light of today’s evolving media landscape. As more Americans consume video content through streaming services and social media, the original intent of media ownership rules—to promote competition and diversity by limiting the number of media outlets a single entity may own—warrants review. Some telecommunications experts contend, however, that the current 39 percent cap is statutory, meaning it can only be changed by an act of Congress and not through regulation. Other critics worry possible changes to media ownership rules will result in fewer conservative voices on broadcast television.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation’s Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Technology, and Data Privacy, will convene a hearing titled: “Fees Rolled on All Summer Long: Examining the Live Entertainment Industry” on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 2:30 P.M. EST. This hearing will discuss live performance ticket sale practices, fees charged by primary and secondary sellers, and the prevalence of automated bots that rapidly buy up tickets, a practice making it harder for some fans to buy list price tickets or attend events.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will convene a full committee hearing titled “Plugged Out: Examining the Impact of Technology on America’s Youth” on Thursday, January 15th at 10:00 am EST. With tweens spending an average of five hours a day on screens, and teens over eight hours a day, this hearing will examine how early, excessive use of smartphones, tablets, and laptops can harm development and mental wellbeing. The hearing will also explore how to empower parents, who often struggle to monitor and limit screen time, at a time when the U.S. education system – fueled by federal subsidies and incentives – is providing personal devices to children.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation’s Subcommittee on Aviation, Space, and Innovation, will convene a hearing titled “FAA’s Plan for ATC Modernization: Evaluating Progress, Ensuring Accountability and Results” on Wednesday, December 17th at 2:30 pm EST. This hearing will review the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) air traffic control modernization plan, with a focus on the progress of the new air traffic control system following the selection of Peraton as the Prime Integrator, which functions as the project manager.

This hearing will examine the toll Democrats’ government shutdown took on the air traffic control system, airline operations, and training.
