The Senate Commerce Committee’s National Ocean Policy Study Subcommittee has announced that on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at 9:30 a.m., in room 253 of the Russell Building, it will hold a hearing on Ballast Water Invasive Species Management and Threats to Coral Reefs. This hearing will examine the introduction of non-native species through the discharge of ballast water from ships and the current threats to coral reefs. This hearing will not focus on any particular legislative proposal but discussion will likely address S. 363, the Ballast Water Management Act of 2005, as well as the reauthorization of the Coral Reef Conservation Act of 2000.
