Senate Commerce Announces Nomination Hearing for Bryan Bedford to Lead the FAA
10:00 AM
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will convene a nomination hearing for Bryan Bedford, nominee to be Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, at 10:00 AM EST on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
Upon announcing Mr. Bedford’s nomination hearing, Sen. Cruz released the following statement:
“President Trump’s FAA administrator will play a key role in bringing America’s aviation system into the 21st century. One of the FAA’s essential tasks is to manage a safe and effective air traffic system running 24/7. Recent challenges — including the deadly midair collision, multiple NOTAM outages, ground stops, and near-misses—show major safety vulnerabilities in air traffic control that necessitate significant reforms. For too long, the FAA has relied on technology from the 1960s and 1970s that is unable to reliably handle the anticipated growth in airspace use. The next FAA administrator will need to provide strong and steady leadership to complete modernization projects in a timely manner but also to identify and implement what the future of the FAA and America’s airspace should be – while accommodating new and current users. I look forward to thoroughly evaluating Bryan Bedford to serve as FAA administrator, focusing on his qualifications, and the experience that will be needed to boldly modernize America’s antiquated aviation system.”
