Short-Supply Prescription Drugs: Shining a Light on the Gray Market

Consumer Protection 2WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation will hold a hearing examining the so-called “gray market” drug companies who drive up the cost of short-supply prescription drugs. The hearing will explore how and why hospitals and other health care providers sometimes struggle to obtain short-supply prescription drugs they need to treat patients suffering from cancer and other life-threatening conditions.  This hearing is the result of a joint Congressional investigation by Chairman John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV, Senator Tom Harkin, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, and Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Please note the hearing will be webcast live via the Senate Commerce Committee website.  Refresh the Commerce Committee homepage 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to automatically begin streaming the webcast.
