Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joined Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) in reintroducing the bipartisan, bicameral TAKE IT DOWN Act. The legislation would criminalize the publication of non-consensual, sexually exploitative images—including AI-generated deepfakes—and require platforms to remove images within 48 hours of notice.

John Curtis (R-Utah) recently reintroduced the Informing Consumers About Smart Devices Act, bipartisan legislation that would require the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to create reasonable disclosure guidelines for products equipped with audio or visual recording components that are not obvious, such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, and dishwashers. Many consumers don’t realize a growing number of household devices and appliances come with cameras and/or microphones capable of recording them and their families. Some devices also include Wi-Fi capability to transmit data without their knowledge.
