Whistleblower Rights

Whistleblowers play a critical role in Congressional oversight. Together, they have helped save billions of tax dollars, improved safety, and have held government agency officials accountable.

Your right to share information with Congress is protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution in accordance with applicable laws. You may also be protected by U.S. law including the Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989 and the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act of 2012, among others.  Members of the Commerce Committee staff are experienced in conducting investigations involving whistleblowers and will ensure that your identity is kept confidential unless you expressly request otherwise.

If you would like to contact the committee to make a protected disclosure of information regarding waste, fraud, or abuse in a government program, agency, or event under the jurisdiction of the Committee, please call 202-224-2189 or email Cantwell_Whistleblower@commerce.senate.gov
