Rockefeller Statement on Committee Approval of FTC, FCC Nominations

December 8, 2011

Chairman RockefellerWASHINGTON, D.C.—Chairman John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV issued the following statement today after the Commerce Committee voted in favor of sending key Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) nominations to the full Senate for its consideration:

“When it comes to putting leaders at the helm of the FTC and FCC, there are no better candidates than the accomplished public servants the Commerce Committee approved today.  We need effective consumer advocates.  I am especially pleased to move forward with Ms. Rosenworcel’s nomination.  Her expertise on communications policy will be a major asset to the Commission.  I’m confident we can address any concerns about the nominees quickly so we can clear the way for full Senate confirmation.”

Confirmed by voice vote today were Ms. Jessica Rosenworcel and Ajit Pai, to be Members of the FCC; Ms. Rebecca M. Blank, to be Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce; and Mr. Jon D. Leibowitz and Ms. Maureen K. Ohlhausen, to be Members of the FTC.
