NASA Announces Top Three Competitors to Design Artemis Human Landing System
U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, today released the following statement after the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced the selection of three from among five bidders to study and design the Artemis Human Landing System (HLS). These U.S. companies will produce a design, mission concept, and plan for the Artemis HLS, two of which NASA will eventually select for production.

Committee Releases Fact Sheet on Positive Train Control Implementation
U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, today released a fact sheet on positive train control (PTC) implementation, after the Government Accountability Office (GAO) issued a report reviewing railroads’ progress toward meeting the final December 31, 2020 deadline. The fact sheet highlights the U.S. Department of Transportation’s important work on PTC through the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), as well as the committee’s oversight of PTC implementation.

Committee Announces Hearing on the Current State of the Aviation Industry
U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will convene a hearing titled, “The State of the Aviation Industry: Examining the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic,” at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Witnesses will provide an update on the current status of the aviation industry and address challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The hearing will also examine the implementation of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
