Oceans, Fisheries, Climate Change and Manufacturing

The Subcommittee on Oceans, Fisheries, Climate Change, and Manufacturing has jurisdiction over matters that impact our oceans, coasts and inland waterways including: coastal zone management; marine fisheries; marine mammals; and oceans, weather, and atmospheric activities. The subcommittee is responsible for overseeing the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the U.S. Coast Guard, the Marine Mammal Commission, the U.S. Global Change Research Program, the Department of Commerce manufacturing bureaus, the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), and workforce development matters.

5 Washington state Ports to Receive $71.4 Million to Boost to Maritime Economy, Cantwell Announces
Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Chair of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, announced that a total of $71,488,445 in federal grants have been awarded to five critical ports in Washington state, including: Port of Grays Harbor, Northwest Seaport Alliance Port of Seattle, Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, Port of Olympia and the Port of Port Angeles. The grants were awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration’s (MARAD) Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP).

Wicker, Cantwell Introduce the Youth Coastal Fishing Program Act
